Darling, You Look Wonderful Tonight

What girl doesn't love slow dancing with her guy? A slow dance can be a quick and easy way to add a burst of romance to the end of a date night, or at anytime for that matter. It’s an easy way to reconnect physically and emotionally, and it doesn’t even involve any talking! The key to a perfectly romantic slow dance is picking the perfect song! It can be ‘your song’ or a song that’s lyrics say just what you are feeling in that moment. Songs move us and inspire us. Pick the right one and you can inspire your loved one with some serious romance! There are so many great songs out there, but here is a suggestion for 10 all-time great love songs :)

At Last” …. Etta James
When You Say Nothing At All“… Allison Krauss
Unforgettable“… Natalie Cole & Nat King Cole
Bless The Broken Road“… Rascal Flatts
Can’t Help Falling In Love“… Elvis Presley
The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face“… Roberta Flack
"Wonderful Tonight"... Eric Clapton
When A Man Loves A Woman“… Percy Sledge
The Way You Look Tonight“… Michael Buble
Because You Loved Me“… Celine Dion

She is Love, and She is All I Need

It's been a rough day... here's a good reminder for everyone

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."

Don't Look, Fate Can Only Find You

Sweet story Sunday! (Ahhh technically Monday, just a minute late) Just a little reminder that everything happens for a reason, and there is usually something good hidden in the bad

"Exactly 10 years ago today almost to the minute, I stopped at an intersection and a car rear ended me. The driver was a student at UF, just like me. He was cordial and apologetic. As we waited for the cops and the tow truck we chatted and started laughing together about all sorts of stuff. We exchanged numbers and the rest is history. We just celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary."

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

I've learned that it's often the little things that make a relationship. I've also learned that people change over time (usually for the better ;P) Here's an idea to keep up with your loved one so that you can continually get to know each other better and be aware of what the other likes, wants, and needs: A Favorite Things List! The “Favorite Things List” is a survey of sorts that acts as a cheat sheet when you’re looking for ideas for those special ‘just because’ gifts. Often as time goes on and you change, your favorite things change too. You can make this list whatever you want it to be, whether short or several pages long, silly or serious. To add to the fun, you can both sit down together when you are filling out the list, as often as you'd like whether it be once a year or once a month. It makes for great conversation! (Hey, that could be a whole date night in itself!)

Here is an example of a Long Version Favorite Things List
Here is an example of a Short Version Favorite Things List

But of course you can play around with it to make it your own!

Look At This Photograph, Every Time I Do It Makes Me Laugh

Ever wished you had more pictures of you and your other half? I have a great idea for either "just because", for decoration, or as a special gift :) Take a picture of you and your loved one during each season of the year, then frame them all in matching frames, unique frames, or a 4-way frame and display! Super simple yet super meaningful, and fun! Pictures are a great gift because they represent memories, and you can always enjoy looking back on them. If you are really nostalgic (like me ;p) you could even do this every year!

When It's Love You Give, Then In Love You Live

How my romantic planning service came to be...

I'm going to give most men the benefit of the doubt and say that they at least try to do romantic things for their girlfriends/wives...sometimes...and if they don't exactly execute it, they at least wish they could do romantic things. And for every girl that has had that "romantic" night that was a good attempt, but not exactly storybook material, you've probably thought to yourself "I should have just done this myself" or "I could have done this better". Well, I've thought the same, and then I thought that maybe I could throw all the guys out there a bone and help them out. The Romance Concierge takes on all aspects of planning a romantic evening- decorations, flowers, rose petals, bubble bath, even chocolate covered strawberries. In my experience with relationships, I've learned men like simple things. So I made my services as simple as possible by creating different "romance packages" with a variety of decorations and confections so that all men have to do is simply pick one :) For those men who are willing to test their creativeness (still with help of course ;) ) there are also add-ons that can be included with any package to spice it up a bit. After a package is chosen, that's where I come in. Your romantic dream becomes reality as I set up your hotel room/condo/bedroom to look just like you see in movies; what any woman would want, because I do it how I would want ;) I cater to all types of romantic events such as birthdays, anniversaries, honeymoons, Valentine's Day, surprise proposals, or just because you love them.  I know couples are busy- it's hard to even make time for each other period, let alone plan a whole romantic night. That's why I enjoy taking the stress off of you and planning your night so that all you have to do is enjoy with your loved one. It's a win-win, everyone is happy, and it's a piece of cake :)

I Wanna Share Your Horizons and See the Same Sunrises

Alright everyone, here's a super simple date idea- and get this- it covers 12 dates in one!

The basic idea is that you’re going to be giving your honey a little “Passport to Love” kit.  They’ll use this kit to go on a different date with you every month for the whole year. The idea is to “travel the world” together, visiting a different destination each month. You can choose to actually go out and visit different cities, sites, or attractions near you, OR bring the different destinations to the comfort of your own home. (No babysitter? No problem!) With a little creativity, you can turn your living room or bedroom into another country and pretend like you’re going off on a spontaneous, whirlwind getaway.

In this kit you’ll include:
1- A card (So they know what this is all about. Just print it out a tie it around everything)
2-travel itinerary (So they know which nights to reserve for you! Just print it out and fill in your departure date, time, & destination for each month)
3- A printable passport (So they can travel the world with you. Print it out, staple it together, and customize it with your honey’s pic and information)
4- Printable passport stamps (So you can record and remember all your travels! Print them out and tape them inside his passport each month as you visit different destinations.)
5- Printable airline tickets (Because that’s just fun. The online generator lets you totally customize it with your honey’s name, your chosen destination, and different airlines. You’ll want to make 12- one for each month!)

Next, choose your destinations, fill out your travel itinerary, create your airline tickets, then surprise your special someone with a year's worth of creative, fun dates! You'll both love having something to look forward to each month.

Here are some destination ideas for inspiration:
France
- Make an easy Parisian picnic with french bread, gourmet cheese, fruit, and sparkling cider.
- Play some French cafe accordion music (you can play music online for free)
- Learn some French phrases, after all- it is the language of love.
- Watch a movie about France or that takes place in France. How about Les Mis, French Kiss, or Forget Paris
- If you really want to go all out: speak in a French accent, wear a beret, do your hair in a French twist, or paint your nails with a French manicure- hee hee.
China
- Order out Chinese food or make your own. Leave the forks in the drawer and try chopsticks.
- Make some Chinese paper lanterns
- Try your hand at writing Chinese characters
- Play some oriental music
- Watch Mulan, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, or any Jackie Chan movie.
- Eat (or make) fortune cookies (If you put them in the microwave, they soften up and you can replace the papers with your own fortunes. Just fold them back up and hold until set again.)
India
- Forget chairs. Just throw some bright colored pillows on the floor.
- Turn out the lights, add candles, and Indian music for ambiance.
- Make Indian food or order out from a local Indian restaurant. Forget the utensils, eat with your hands.
- Bejewel each other with self-adhesive jewels, or get brave and apply Henna tattoos
- Watch a Bollywood movie or learn some Bollywood dance moves from YouTube.
- How about a magic carpet ride while you watch Aladdin? (hee hee) Or you can be his Genie and grant him 3 wishes.
Italy
- Make homemade pasta or pizza.
- Play some Italian music to set the mood (Andre Bocelli?) and speak in an Italian accent for fun.
- Get out some art supplies and channel your inner Michelangelo.
- For you “foreign film” how about: The Italian Job, Life is Beautiful, Under the Tuscan Sun, Roman Holiday, or Much Ado About Nothing.
- Enjoy some gelato.
- If you really want to go all out- go for a gondola ride. (I’m thinking blow-up raft in the swimming pool -lol)
Caribbean
- Go on a Caribbean cruise! To make your room like a cruise ship, fold a towel on the bed to make a swan. (They totally have tutorials online)
- Check your local dollar store for tropical decorations like tiki pictures, drink umbrellas, or grass skirts.
- Get dressed in your bathing suit, cover-up, and sunglasses like you’re on a real cruise.
- Play some island music. Try Kokomo by the Beach Boys or Escape (The Pina Coloda Song) by Rupert Holmes.
- Make an Island-themed dinner- like Hawaiian chicken with pina colodas or strawberry daiquiris.
- Limbo!
- Watch Pirates of the Carribbean.
- You can even put blue food coloring and a beach ball in the bathtub.
Greece
- Toga Party anyone?
- Cook some authentic Greek food. How about moussaka and baklava (or keep it simple with pita pizzas)
- Listen to Greek music and dance! (And if you really want to- break some old, glass dishes that you don’t care about. Opa! tee hee.)
- Watch “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”
Jamaica
-Give your spouse a note- “Jamaican me crazy- yah mon!” (Oooh- isn’t there a Jamaican me crazy Ben & Jerry’s ice cream??)
- Cook some Jamaican food- jerk chicken or boiled banana anyone?
- Turn into a Jamaican online radio station and listen to some reggae and calypso music.
- Put on an island shirt and do some island dancing!
- Play with hacki-sacks
- Watch “Cool Runnings”
Russia
- Make some Russian food. Try Borsch or Beef Stroganoff
- Forget the vodka, take shots of rootbeer
- Play Russian roulette with a cap gun. Or dress as mobsters. hee hee.
- Listen to some Russian music online and try to dance the Preesyadka (the Russian knee-bending, kick dance)
- Watch Anastasia or The Hunt for Red October
- Watch the Russian Ballet or Opera on YouTube
Germany
(perfect for an October date)
- Host your own Oktoberfest for two- serve bratwurst with mustard and sauerkraut
- Instead of beer and ale, serve mugs of rootbeer or gingerale
- For dessert, how about apple strudel?
- Better yet- host your own ChOktoberfest and serve German chocolate!!
- Listen to German music on Pandora and watch a German movie.
Egypt
- Write each other notes in hieroglyphics- switch and decode
- Create an archaeological dig site for your spouse using a sandbox and have them search for buried treasure (a love note or gift)
- Play Egyptian music (and walk like an Egyptian.) ;)
- Make some Egyptian food: Chicken kebabs, lamb, fried zucchini, hummus and pita bread, or baklava
- Watch “The Mummy”
- If you want to go all out- dress up like Cleopatra and Ra (God of the Sun)
Ireland
(perfect for a March date)
- Turn your dining room into an Irish Pub (Lucky Charms for dessert? They’re magically delicious!)
- Dress in green
- Speak in an Irish accent
- Make a leprechaun trap
- Watch an Irish movie (Or how about “Leap Year?” That movie has some gorgeous scenes of Ireland.)
England
- Listen to some Beatles CDs
- Turn your dining room into an English Pub with fish and chips
- Or go more posh and serve crumpets and tea with a fancy hat
- Speak in a British accent (Jolly Good! Cheerio!)
- Watch a supporting event from the UK
- Play some croquet.
- Watch a movie that takes place in England or one with English actors. Sherlock Holmes or a good BBC movie.
Africa
- Make an African dinner (Sosaties, plantains, coconut milk, mango drinks, etc.)
- Gather all the plants in the house into one area to make an African jungle (Or just use your backyard and light tiki torches.) If you want add animals- stuffed animals.
- Play some African music in the background
- Dress us like you’re ready for a safari (think khaki shorts, binoculars, etc.)
- Make African drums or tribal masks together, or “decorate” each other with tribal face paint.
- Watch Out of Africa, I Dreamed of Africa, To Walk With Lions, or even Madagascar.

Have fun with this! Happy travels! ;)

Clouds Are Shrouding Us in Moments Unforgettable

Sorry it's been a few days since my last post, it has been an extremely busy week. But, what better day to return than Sweet Story Sunday ;) I love that such short and simple stories can show such a large amount of love, and since I've been MIA for a few days, I've decided to share more than one :)

"Today, my 75-year-old grandpa who has been blind from cataracts for almost 15 years said to me, 'Your grandma is just the most beautiful thing, isn’t she?' I paused for a second and said, 'Yes she is. I bet you miss seeing that beauty on a daily basis.' 'Sweety,' my grandpa said, 'I still see her beauty every day. In fact, I see it more now than I used to when we were young.'

"Today, I walked my daughter down the aisle. Ten years ago I pulled a 14 year old boy out of his mom’s fire-engulfed SUV after a serious accident. Doctors initially said he would never walk again. My daughter came with me several times to visit him at the hospital. Then she started going on her own. Today, seeing him defy the odds and smile widely, standing on his own two feet at the altar as he placed a ring on my daughter’s finger."

"I was sitting on a park bench today eating a sandwich for lunch when an elderly couple pulled their car up under a nearby oak tree. They rolled down the windows and turned up some jazz music on the radio. Then the man got out of the car, walked around to the passenger side, opened the door for the woman, took her hand and helped her out of her seat, guided her about ten feet away from the car, and they slow danced for the next half hour under the oak tree."

"I was driving home with my father when he suddenly made a u-turn and said, 'I forgot to get your mother a bouquet of flowers. I’ll pick up one from the florist at the corner down here. It’ll only take a second.' 'What’s so special about today that you have to buy her flowers?' I asked. 'There’s nothing specifically special about today,' my father said. 'Every day is special. Your mother loves flowers. They put a smile on her face.”

Love is All You Need

I've decided that every Sunday I will post a short sweet story about love, to hopefully inspire you and put a smile on your face :)

"Today, as my 91-year-old grandfather (a military doctor, war hero, and successful business owner) rested in his hospital bed, I asked him what his greatest life accomplishment was. He turned around, grabbed my grandmother’s hand, looked her in the eyes, and said, “Growing old with you.”

What is Love?

Have you ever noticed that sometimes kids have more wisdom than you would expect? They are always brutally honest, and I think their innocence almost makes them smarter, because their thoughts aren't clouded by doubt and worry and stress. Here are some answers children gave when they were asked "What is love?". I think these are some of the simplest, yet best descriptions of what love is, and they make me smile :)

“Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.” Danny - age 7
“When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn’t bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That’s love.” Rebecca - age 8

“When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You know that your name is safe in their mouth.” Billy - age 4

“Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.” Karl - age 5

“If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,” Nikka - age 6
"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs.” Chrissy - age 6

“Love is what makes you smile when you’re tired.” Terri - age 4

“There are two kinds of love. Our love. God’s love. But God makes both kinds of them.” Jenny - age 8

“Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday.” Noelle - age 7

“Love is what’s in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen,” Bobby - age 7

“Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.” Tommy - age 6

“During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn’t scared anymore,” Cindy - age 8

“My mommy loves me more than anybody. You don’t see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night.” Clare - age 6

"I let my big sister pick on me because my Mom says she only picks on me
because she loves me. So I pick on my baby sister because I love her.”
-Bethany, age 4

“Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.” Elaine -age 5

“Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford.” Chris - age 7

“Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.” Mary Ann - age 4“I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.” Lauren - age 4

“When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.” Karen - age 7

"You really shouldn’t say ‘I love you’ unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget,” Jessica - age 8

And I Don't Believe in Time

I was thinking today about how no one ever has time these days..no one has time to do anything, no one can make time for each other, everyone is always too busy. I think that is one of the major problems in relationships these days too...because everyone is so busy...but in a relationship you still need quality time with each other. Like anything, as much effort as you put in is as much as you're going to get out of it. In a relationship, sometimes you have to MAKE time. It's possible. You have to remember that making time for each other doesn't ALWAYS mean you're going on a lavish date....sometimes it means folding laundry together, or cooking dinner, or even running errands together. Anyone can have fun together doing a fun activity, but it really says something when you can enjoy each other's company doing something as simple as grocery shopping together. Quality over quantity. If your main goal is just to spend time together, does it really matter what you're doing? ;)

Making time,

Oh, You Make Me Smile

Sometimes the best way to feel love is to spread love. Any act of kindness will make you feel good, but here are some ideas of random acts of kindness that will brighten people's days; and yours :)

1. Leave change at a vending machine

2. Hide dollar bills in the toy section of the dollar store

3. Deliver homemade sweets to your local firestation, police station, library, etc.

4. Deliver flowers to a local hospital or senior center. Ask the desk clerk which patients she thinks need cheering up the most

5. Leave your mailman homemade sweets or a small gift

6. Collect some coupons and leave them at their places of use for others to find

7. Go through a drive-thru and tell the cashier you want to pay for the people's order behind you

8. Write a card to a friend or family member just to remind them how much they're loved

9. Compliment someone

10. Look at people in the eye, and smile :)

Spread the love,

You'll Wear White and I'll Wear Out the Words "I Love You"

Continuing on my wedding theme from yesterday....I've gotten some really cute and simple ideas from Pinterest to make your wedding even more special and memorable. Here's a few :)

1. Have the bride write a sweet note for the groom to read since they can't see each other while getting ready

2. Throw sprinkles instead of rice, they're more colorful :)

3. At the bottom of the cake, hide whatever the groom likes... sports mascot, band logo, anything. Because it's just as much his day as it is yours.

4. Have a canopy over the bride and groom and at the moment of the kiss pull the cord and have it rain confetti

5. Have your guests sign a puzzle piece each, then put it back together, frame it and display

Hope you all love these ideas as much as I do :) Please share if you have others!

Rain, Rain Go Away

I'm on vacation in Puerto Rico this weekend...and today I was looking forward to spending the day on the beautiful beaches of San Juan.... but apparently the weather didn't agree with that plan as we are being hit by a tropical storm. I've been disappointed all day, and thinking about how something as stupid as rain can ruin an entire day's plans. Then I got to thinking about bigger plans than a beach day being rained out, like someone's wedding day. Can you imagine? A day you've looked forward to your whole life, all the details you've put so much effort into....and then rain. All the things you thought you had planned out are now forced to be Plan B. But, it depends how you look at it. So many people say that rain on your wedding day is good luck. Some couples who have had this experience say it is a detail about their wedding that makes it unique, and that every time it rains they can think back to that special day and their mishaps. In that situation, it is important to remember that it's your WEDDING day and the reason the celebration is happening, and to stay positive and happy, instead of focusing on the negative. So the bride can throw on some rainboots, grab a cute umbrella, and get married to her husband! The same goes for a similar situations with any disappointment- ignore the negative, try to see the best, and your attitude makes all the difference.

Smiling through the rain,

One Love, One Heart

Tonight I am in the company of a couple who has been married for 43 years. Love that can last that long really boggles my mind. In 4 decades I can only imagine the trials and obstacles a relationship faces, and what it means for two people to conquer whatever comes their way, together, and ultimately come out even stronger in the end.

I love this quote, I think it is the true definition of what love should be

“Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. You tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more. You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you. When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement. They are not embarrassed to cry with you when you are hurting or laugh with you when you make a fool of yourself. Never do they hurt your feelings or make you feel like you are not good enough, but rather they build you up and show you the things about yourself that make you special and even beautiful. There is never any pressure, jealousy or competition but only a quiet calmness when they are around. You can be yourself and not worry about what they will think of you because they love you for who you are. The things that seem insignificant to most people such as a note, song or walk become invaluable treasures kept safe in your heart to cherish forever. Memories of your childhood come back and are so clear and vivid it’s like being young again. Colours seem brighter and more brilliant. Laughter seems part of daily life where before it was infrequent or didn’t exist at all. A phone call or two during the day helps to get you through a long day’s work and always brings a smile to your face. In their presence, there’s no need for continuous conversation, but you find you’re quite content in just having them nearby. Things that never interested you before become fascinating because you know they are important to this person who is so special to you. You think of this person on every occasion and in everything you do. Simple things bring them to mind like a pale blue sky, gentle wind or even a storm cloud on the horizon. You open your heart knowing that there’s a chance it may be broken one day and in opening your heart, you experience a love and joy that you never dreamed possible. You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that’s so real it scares you. You find strength in knowing you have a true friend and possibly a soul mate who will remain loyal to the end. Life seems completely different, exciting and worthwhile. Your only hope and security is in knowing that they are a part of your life." -Bob Marley

Love Don't Cost a Thing

Bored? Broke? Here's 25 fun (and free) things to do with your other half!

1. Go to an art opening. They often have wine, and you'll feel cultured for zero cash
2. Find where a local band is playing that night. Live music, dark room, you get the idea.
3. Take your dog to the park. Don't have a dog? Offer to take a friend's dog out
4. Go somewhere where you have a great view of the sunrise/sunset
5. Strip-poker. Or strip-any board game
6. Some gyms offer a free trial day. Pick one with something fun like a rock climbing wall and sweat it out
7. Gather your friends and play a childhood game like capture the flag or man hunt
8. Make a time capsule of things that represent each other and your relationship. Bury it, then dig it up on an anniversary
9. Become part of a flash mob
10. See a comedy show. Comedy classes often offer showcases, so tickets are free. Even if they're not very good, that could turn out to be funny too
11. Hit up Costco or Sam's and troll the aisles for samples
12. Go on a bike ride
13. Teach each other a skill you've known since you were little. Rock skipping, cartwheeling, anything.
14. Cheer on a local sports team, whether it be college or little league
15. Sit in a public place and people watch. Make up stories about what people are doing and saying
16. Get wet. Go to a local pool, beach, lake, or spring
17. Have a fun photo shoot. No need for you to practice your "sexy face", just take silly or artsy pictures. If anything, you'll be able to look back at them and smile
18. Head to a museum. Many are free or only ask for donations
19. Round up all the random gift cards you've collected over the years and hit the mall
20. Have a potluck cocktail party. Tell your friends to bring a bottle that's been collecting dust, then make up your own mixes
21. Go camping. Even if it's in your backyard
22. Volunteer
23. Whip up a meal. If you go to supercook.com, you can enter the ingredients you already have in your house, and it will give you a recipe
24. Coupon hunt for places offering free drinks, appetizers, etc
25. Wash your car. It'll be a lot more fun if you do it MTV style and have a water fight afterwards

Rock skipping and cartwheeling,
